Josiah Zayner’s The Odin

Josiah Zayner was working for NASA in Martian colony habitat design, but didn’t find that innovative enough, so he started his company The Odin.

Founder and CEO of The ODIN, Josiah Zayner extracts Follistatin protein used in their frog gene therapy kit during a demonstration in Oakland, Calif., on Thursday, Jan. 1, 2019. The genetic engineering company creates kits and tools for individuals to make unique and usable organisms at home or in a lab. (Anda Chu/Bay Area News Group)

Josiah then set out on a mission to make genetic engineering accessible to the DIY maker community, including using much publicized CRISPR technology. Josiah is a big supporter of Biohackers and citizen scientists and a wonderful resource for me and the Tech Bandits. He sponsored my enrollment in The Odin’s ground-breaking Biotech 101 course… if you have even a passing interest in Bio tech, then I highly recommend it! And he also invited me to talk Tech Bandits at his incredible BioHack the Planet Conference. We’re currently looking at ways to make recent bio-engineering discoveries and his tools, tech and know-how accessible and engaging to young bio-Techbandits! Thank you Josiah and the awesome The Odin
